My AHA Moment!

As Editor of the JK Club Newsletter, I now have the privilege of posting regular blog entries. I’ve never blogged before, but I love reading other people’s blogs and now is probably as good a time as any for me to take the plunge.

Jeanette, the founder of JK Secret, suggested I would be ideal for this role, since I do not have a background in skin products or cosmeceutics. This does actually make sense: Because I am an ordinary consumer, not a cosmetic scientist, I share with my readers all the fears and concerns and queries relating to aging skin, which an expert would never even think of asking.

I look forward to a lively debate on the issue of anti aging skincare. Do post or email me your comments and questions. Since there is a good chance that I won’t know the answers to your questions, I’ll have to ask the experts; I promise to share with you what I discover, in language that we can all actually understand.

Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs)

I recently asked Jeanette what she believes to be the single most effective ingredient in JK Secret’s Rich Anti Aging Moisturiser.

“AHAs,” she said. Thinking that she was just sneezing, I repeated my question. That’s when I learned she was talking about “AHAs,” or alpha hydroxy acids.

Commonly known as fruit acids, AHAs are derived from natural products, such as sugar cane, fruits, milk and molasses.

AHAs work in two steps: They slough off the dead, rough skin on the surface. Then, they unleash their real magic on the inner layers, boosting the production of collagen and jump-starting new cell generation.

The JK Secret Rich Anti Aging Moisturiser as well as the Lite Anti Aging Moisturiser contains a blend of 5 natural AHAs. It also contains a number of other active ingredients, which I shall investigate in future blog entries.
